Guilty or Innocent?
If you were judged by the following standards, would you be guilty or innocent?
Category 1: YOU SHALL HAVE NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME
- Have you ALWAYS put God First in your life. So much so that your love for Him makes your love for your mom, dad, sister, brother, boyfriend, girlfriend look like HATRED in comparison.
- Have you EVER failed to put Him first in your Life?
- Have you ever spent more time watching TV than praying?
- Have you ever not obeyed Him, even though you knew you should have?
Category 2: YOU SHALL NOT HAVE ANY IDOLS
- Have you ever said that God was only a God of love and mercy who would never cast anyone into Hell?
- How about just you?
- Have you ever spent time continually thinking about something so that you couldn’t think about anything else?
- Have you dedicated large amounts of time to something trivial, like clothes, video games, possessions?
Category 3: YOU SHALL NOT TAKE THE LORD'S NAME IN VAIN.
- have you ever used God’s name as a curse word?
- Have you ever told someone that they need to obey God, while you were disobeying?
Category 4: KEEP HOLY THE SABATH DAY
- Have you ALWAYS taken one day out of the week and made it holy, devoted ONLY to God
Category 5: HONOR YOU MOTHER AND FATHER
- Have your EVER dishonored your parents?
- Have you entered a check so far?
- Do any of the rest of the questions have checks after this?
Category 6: YOU SHALL NOT MURDER
- have you ever hated anyone?
- Have you ever called someone stupid?
- Have you ever thought about killing someone?
Category 7: YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY
- have you had ANY sexual contact outside of marriage
- have you ever THOUGHT about someone in a sexual manner
- Have you ever LOOKED real long at any body parts that you shouldn’t have
- Have you ever read anything racy or looked at porn?
Category 8: YOU SHALL NOT STEAL
- Have you ever stolen anything?
- Have you ever gotten paid for something that you didn’t work very hard on?
- Have you ever been late?
- Have you ever gossiped?
- Have you ever borrowed something and never returned it?
Category 9: YOU SHALL NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS
- Have you ever lied?
- EVER?
- Are you lying now?
Category 10: YOU SHALL NOT COVET
- have you ever wanted something that someone else had?
- Have you ever wished to have someone else’s girl/boyfriend or just their friend?
- Have you ever desired to have something solely because someone else had it?
- Have you ever desired to be in the position that someone was in?
Know This!!! God DOES judge us by these standards and worse, He’s very serious about them. So serious in fact that when His own son, Jesus, became sin God sent His full anger at His only son.
If God punished His only son because when Jesus Himself had done nothing wrong… do you think that God will let you off with a warning? Absolutely not!!! God will punish your sin as surly as He punished His son.
But it doesn’t have to be that way.
If you believe that Jesus can save you from this punishment, and you count His death as yours, then you will be saved.
Trusting in Jesus to Save you is like Trusting in a parachute when you have to jump out of a plane. Parachute or not, your going to fall out of the plane, but those of us with Jesus will not die, but have everlasting life.
Please consider this. Don’t let the fact that your in youth group cloud the issue. Going to church CANNOT save you, only Jesus can. Please don’t let the sun go down on you before you have asked God to let His Son’s death make you right with Him.
